June 24, 2008: The MIA today announced the appointment of Elizabeth Neilson Armstrong as its new Assistant Director for Exhibitions and Programs and Curator of Contemporary Art.

June 2, 2008: The MIA today announced the appointment of Leann Standish as its new Assistant Director for Institutional Advancement.

May 27, 2008: The MIA today announced the appointment of Jan-Lodewijk Grootaers as its new curator of African, Oceanic, and Native American Art (AONA).

September 25, 2007: The Board of Trustees of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) announced the appointment of Kaywin Feldman as the Director and President of the museum.

July 11, 2007: Long-time curator, Ted Hartwell, who founded the Minneapolis Institute of Arts’ Department of Photographs, died July 10, at age 73.

August 13, 2007: A scholarship fund has been established in Mr. Hartwell's memory.

May 7, 2007: The MIA has purchased a rare sculpture from the Kingdom of Benin, a pre-colonial civilization once located in what is now southern Nigeria.

June 1, 2006: MIA has purchased a beautiful and important full-length portrait by Alexander Roslin (1718–1793), one of the preeminent painters at the court of King Louis XV of France.
